  • Awarded an international teaching fellowship based on demonstration of content knowledge, leadership experience, and teaching ability

  • Organized and led a Collaborative Working Group in Summer 2014 and Summer 2015 with peers to discuss Standards Based Grading, including experiences with it, pros, cons, and concerns.

  • Served on the Book Committee from 2015-2017 to choose a focus book for the fellowship, develop in-person and online discussions, and arrange for guest speaker(s) at the annual summer meeting

  • Act as a critical friend to provide feedback to other fellows on content knowledge and teaching strategies

  • Attend and help facilitate three Knowles national meetings yearly to participate in professional development and to further collaborate on our personal and collaborative inquiry projects

  • Collaborated with two mentor teachers in chemistry and Algebra II to plan and implement lessons

  • Lead taught in both classes for several units, creating unit plans and activity sequences

  • Collaborated with teachers, school support staff, and administrators to work to improve student performance and graduation rate and to decrease the achievement gap and suspension rate in an effort to get Eastern off of the priority list for Michigan schools

  • Designed assessments to accurately measure student progress with chemistry concepts and saw significant improvement after each unit
